Many new students want to read about Tai Chi, and I encourage that angle of study. In the last two decades, the number of books about tai chi has literally exploded, and with few exceptions, I personally have found many of them to be (admittedly some good) regurgitations of some of the earlier books on the subject. Lots of nice glossy pages and color photos, but still a distance from their source. I did and do read, and reread, and also view and review video instruction materials…many of the teachers are gone, but their teaching about tai chi lives on.
Here, I propose to reconstruct a list of books I have recommended in the past, and new books as I find something that supports what I am teaching in my tai chi classes. If you have constructive comments about the particular book, please feel free to submit feedback.
The first book on the list is
“The Dao of Taijiquan: Way to Rejuvenation”
by one of my earliest and most inspiring teachers, Master Jou Tsung Hwa.
